Christine Furrey

Community Outreach Coordinator

Christine started with Second Chance Humane Society in December of 2021 as a Dog Den Animal Care Specialist. Here she was able to focus her love for dogs by providing the daily care, enrichment and training they needed to help them become more adoptable. In January of 2024 Christine was promoted to Community Outreach Supervisor. You can find Christine almost every weekend hosting adoption events anywhere from Montrose, Ridgway to Telluride.

Christine has worked to create, grow and maintain new programs such as the Second Chance pet pantry, our network of volunteers, she works with local youth groups, and plans and executes many of the special events hosted by Second Chance Humane Society.

Christine is originally from South Western Pennsylvania. She earned her degree in Maryland and moved to Colorado shortly after graduation. After a short time in Denver, she and her husband moved to Summit County, where they always had a house full of dogs. They raised their son, enjoyed mountain life, and after 25 years living over 9,000 feet above sea level, decided to semi-retire somewhere with a little less snow. You can still find Christine, her husband and their Second Chance adoptee Nora, out playing in the local snow on cross country skis or out mountain biking and enjoying the long biking season the area has to offer.
