Redeeming Your Pet
-Call us at 970-626-2273 or visit during our open ours to reclaim your pet.
-Be prepared to pay reclaiming fees. If you find yourself unable to pay the fees required to reclaim, please reach out to the shelter. We understand that these situations can be challenging and are here to discuss options with compassion and patience.
-All animals must leave with a leash or in a carrier!
-Ask our shelter staff about low-cost microchipping and engraved pet tags that are available for purchase!
Lost Pet Resources
If you don’t see your missing pet above, there are plenty of other things you can do to help your furry friend get home. We’re here to help!
-Make a flyer with a photo and description of your pet. Make sure to include contact info so finders know who to call if they have your pet. Hang the flyers around the neighborhood, go door-to-door, and bring the flyers to Second Chance so we can hang them at the shelter.
-Keep an eye on local Facebook groups and apps such as Nextdoor to see if anyone has spotted or found your pet
-Contact the veterinarians in your area to see if your pet has been brought in for care
-SCHS offers humane trap rentals (for a refundable deposit) to help catch your pet
-Reach out to us at 970-626-2273 or animalcare@secondchancehumane.org for more species-specific tips
-Register your pets for Petco Love Lost, a nationwide facial recognition database designed to bring stray pets home (it’s free!)
