Kristi is a Colorado native with family roots in Telluride. Her love of animals began early in her life, as her family always had dogs and cats.

Her foray into animal activism began with a feral cat that lived nearby. Upon seeing the feral momma, pregnant yet again, with no one else helping her out, Kristi sprang into action.  She trapped the momma and welcomed her into Kristi’s home, where the momma had 4 kittens a week later. Kristi also trapped her daughter and another pregnant cat, and at one point, she had 16 cats and kittens in her home (including her own cats).  The kittens were all adopted, and the small feral colony that had once been ignored became a group of healthy, fixed cats enjoying their lives.

Kristi continues to seek out animals that need help, attention, and love because Kristi believes that someone needs to speak for the animals that cannot.

When Kristi is not working on writing books or creating new designs for her apparel and lifestyle company, KANT-MAK-M Brands, she continues to pursue her love of animals, yoga, skiing, hiking, biking, and enjoying the Colorado mountains with her family, her human friends, and of course, her furry friends.

Kristi lives in Norwood, Colorado, with her dog, Baxter Bean, and her three cats, Spenser Hawk, Telluride (Teller) Love, and Cleopatra Rose, a healthy, robust kitten she rescued in Montrose in March 2026.
